To keep up with this ever-evolving industry, every 5 years The Commisssion™ engages in a job task analysis. In addition to keeping CDMS eligibility criteria and certification examination content relevant, this study serves to validate scope of practice. 

History of CDMS

The CDMS credential has a rich history that spans 30 years. Offering the only independent, nationally accredited program that certifies disability management specialists, the CDMS credential is the industry standard in workplace solutions and has long been recognized for excellence. It promotes competence, high professional standards, and ethical practice.

Beginning July 1, 2016, the management of the CDMS certification program was transferred to The Commission™. The Commission™ is the largest and oldest accredited certification body that certifies client advocacy professionals across varied practice settings. The Commission™ is a non-profit, volunteer-led organization that also manages other certification programs and education for client advocacy professionals, including the Certified Case Manager® (CCM) credential.
