Nanesha S. Courtney, PhD, LMHC, CRC, CDMS, CET is at the intersection of behavioral health, disability management, vocational rehabilitation, and workforce advocacy. With more than three decades of experience spanning clinical practice, business leadership, and national program development, Dr. Courtney brings a combination of strategic vision, clinical expertise, and operational excellence to improving outcomes for individuals, organizations, and communities.
Dr. Courtney currently serves as National Product Manager for Advocacy, Disability, and Return-to-Work Services at Broadspire, where she leads the design, implementation, and performance management of enterprise-level programs supporting biopsychosocial care, vocational services, ergonomics, and disability solutions. In this role, she oversees multidisciplinary teams of vocational counselors and registered nurses, develops client-focused product lines, ensures compliance and ethical standards, and partners with national accounts to deliver measurable cost containment and workforce sustainability outcomes.
In parallel with her corporate leadership, Dr. Courtney is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and founder of Courtney Therapy and Consulting LLC, where she provides telehealth psychotherapy services. Her clinical work focuses on trauma-informed care, pain management, depression, anxiety, and complex medical and psychological conditions, utilizing evidence-based approaches including EMDR and Choice Theory/Reality Therapy. Her practice reflects a whole-person approach that integrates mental health treatment with vocational identity, recovery, and functional restoration.
Dr. Courtney earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Walden University, graduating Summa Cum Laude, with a concentration in Health and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. Her doctoral research examined predictors of outcomes in short-term pain programs, reinforcing her long-standing professional focus on the relationship between mental health, disability, and workplace engagement. She also holds a Master of Science in Applied Psychology (Summa Cum Laude) and a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling, along with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Her credentials include Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS), Certified Ergonomics Technician (CET), and National Provider Identifier status.
A committed advocate for professional standards and ethical practice, Dr. Courtney serves in governance and advisory roles with The Commission®, including sitting on the standard-setting committee service supporting certification quality, exam development, and strategic direction. She is an active member of professional organizations such as the American Psychological Association, Alliance of Women in Workers’ Compensation, and Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.
Dr. Courtney is also a frequent speaker, author, and thought leader, contributing white papers, industry articles, and conference presentations on mental health at work, advocacy models, ergonomics, disability inclusion, and return-to-work innovation. Through her leadership in employee resource groups, publications, and training programs, she continues to champion equity, recovery, and sustainable workforce solutions rooted in empathy, data-driven practice, and organizational accountability.
