Retirement Designation (CCM-R)
CCM Board-Certified Case Manager
Retirement Designation (CCM-R)
When you earned your CCM®, you joined the best of the best.
Stay in the game as long as you can—on your own terms.
The Commission's® CCM-R™ retirement credential allows non-practicing CCMs to remain flexible about their future. CCM-R permits retired CCMs to regain full CCM status without re-taking the exam. If your retirement status changes and you wish to regain the use of your CCM, you would simply need to meet the renewal criteria and pay the renewal fee at the time of reinstatement.
Choosing the CCM-R leaves the door open to reactivate your CCM in case you want to return to the workforce within your renewal period (5 years from the expiration date). For example, if you return to full-time work, part-time work, volunteering, mentoring, or consulting, you would have the option to renew without re-taking the exam.
- A CCM may go into retirement status up to nine months after the expiration date on their certificate. If a CCM has an expired certification and chooses to gain retirement status in that nine-month timeframe, the CCM certification start date will begin on the date of payment.
- If you have an active CCM certification and choose to retire your credential, the CCM-R start date will begin the day after your current certification expires.
- If you are providing consulting or other services using your CCM certification, you should NOT select the retirement designation, but should continue to maintain the CCM certification.
Retirement Reinstatement
If an individual’s retirement status changes and he or she wishes to regain use of the CCM, he or she would need to meet the criteria in effect at the time of renewal, including earning all continuing education credits and ethics requirements, in addition to paying the renewal fee at the time of reinstatement. If an individual would like to reinstate by re-examination, please contact The Commission as all requirements noted on the renewal guide must be met.
If your reinstatement month falls between April - November, the start date is the date of reinstatement, and the end date is May 31st. If your reinstatement month falls between December - March, the start date is the date of reinstatement, and the end date is November 30th.
